Kaliningrad. What is it? And where is it?

Kaliningrad is “hidden” from the main part of Russia behind three boundaries - Russian-Belarusian, Belarusian-Lithuanian and Lithuanian-Russian. However there is a main railway that connects Moscow with Kaliningrad through them. After overcoming these administrative obstacles, our guests get on quite the Russian land, the inhabitants of which are influenced by the neighboring countries.

Here you are welcomed by the same sea as in Jūrmala, the same old German buildings that are immersed in the greenery of gardens and parks, like in Olsztyn and like in Vilnius. Tile roofs like in Tallinn, cobblestone pavements as in Prague. Kaliningradians drive around in foreign cars, and even if on a bus, then usually produced by the German automotive industry. Even our tramcars are originally from the Czech Republic. There are a lot of shops and boutiques with European brands of clothing and footwear; the young people dress vividly and interesting. But Russian is still a native language here. And Kaliningrad is loved for being unique different from the rest of Russia.

Our life is more calm and hasteless, than in Moscow. It’s lower in cost and more ecological, without a crazy fighting for a survival. Kaliningradians are holders of Baltic quiet temper, which often erupted by the Russian hospitality, the German industriousness, and international light spontaneity.
